Rebecca Shoptaw is a filmmaker and headshot photographer based in New York City.
She knows from her work in film how critical the actor headshot is in the casting process, and what a difference a truly great headshot -- one that expresses exactly who the actor is and what they can do -- can make.
To that end, she's developed a fun and collaborative 3-step process for headshot photography which ensures that every part of the image -- from wardrobe to color palette to lighting to pose and expression -- works together to tell the right story about the actor she's photographing.

How it works
The process involves a 1.5 hour photo session at a beautiful studio in Williamsburg, accompanied by a planning and styling session beforehand and a review and selection session afterwards, along with an optional back-and-forth between Rebecca and your agent or manager before and after the session to make sure everyone's on the same page.
This way, instead of being faced with a seemingly impossible set of decisions for wardrobe and makeup and then having to sift through a sea of photos alone and guess what works best, you can move through the whole photography process with confidence, and the ease of knowing that you're well on your way to getting the exact photos you need.
